Congratulations to SECVBD Director Dr. Rhoel Dinglasan, who received second place in the NIH Technology Accelorator Challenge, along with industry collaborators from Luminostics! The group developed a smartphone-based rapid saliva test that can detect three globally important diseases: COVID-19, malaria, and anemia. The technology, called CLIP-CAM, uses cassettes fixed onto a smartphone, the phone’s flash function, and a reader app on the phone to detect SARS-CoV-2 antigen, anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, or anemia or malaria parasite biomarkers.
